Lilly records a song as a gift for her Mom. However, she is not a good singer so Miley edits it to try to make it sound better, without telling Lilly. When Lilly hears it, she comes to believe that she is a great singer and agrees to compete against Amber in Karaoke Night at school. Then Miley tells Lilly the truth and shows Lilly the original tape, and the two devise a plan to beat Amber by making Lilly lip-synch a song with Miley singing it in another room. Unfortunately, Miley lets out a spider on accident and it crawls up her arm which leads things going awry. Meanwhile Jackson has to deal with Miley and Lilly's friend Sarah (Morgan York) when she thinks he likes her. The title of this episode is based on Neil Diamond's "Song Sung Blue".

Guest starring Hollywood Records recording artists the Jonas Brothers, who joined Hannah Montana for her first ever full-length duet, performing an original song created for this episode. In the storyline, Miley Stewart is jealous when her dad, Robby, is songwriting with Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas. She tries to act more guyish in hopes that her Dad will spend more time with her instead of the "JoBros", as he calls them. When that doesn't work, she decides to dress up with Lilly as a boy band convincing the Jonas Brothers that Robbie Ray "stole" their song, We Got the Party, which lands Robbie Ray in a nasty argument with the boys. Later, Miley explains to Robby that she was jealous of the time he was spending with the Jonas Brothers instead of her and how she thought she might never be able to spend time with him again. He comforts her, telling her that that wouldn't happen and he still loves spending time with her and songwriting for Hannah. At the end Hannah and the Jonas Brothers sing We Got the Party.
